Optomap at Sarah Dineen
Introducing the
Future of Eyecare
At Sarah Dineen Opticians we put our patients’ eyesight first, which is why we’ve invested in the latest state of the art technology, Optomap imaging, to ensure your eye examination is more comprehensive than ever.

Optomap imaging is an ultra-wide scan that allows your Optometrist to see significantly more of the back of the eye (the retina). An Optomap captures 82% of the retina compared to 15% with more traditional cameras.
When looking at the retina our Optometrists can detect signs of many serious eye conditions, including macular degeneration, glaucoma and cancers of the eye.
It’s also possible for the optometrist to see signs of problems with your general health, such as diabetes or high blood pressure. Optomap imaging makes it easier to detect any potential problems early and treat them.

What is Optomap & Why is it Important?

Is an Optomap Safe?
The test works like a scan, it is quick, easy and non-invasive. There is no need for any drops that blur your vision. It also means we can assess the health of the back of the eye from a safe social distance.
Optomap imaging is included in our private examination and is as an option for all NHS patients.
For a fully comprehensive eye examination we recommend that all patients have an Optomap scan.
