COLORIMETRY

In our specialised Colorimetry assessments, discover how colour can alleviate symptoms of visual discomfort and help with Dyslexia.

WHAT IS VISUAL STRESS?

Visual stress is suffered by many people who struggle to read. The symptoms are not always obvious, but people with visual stress may experience visual discomfort and perceptual distortions in the printed text.

Many individuals who suffer from this condition believe the discomfort they feel when reading or the distortions they experience on the page are “normal” and experienced by everyone.

The condition is estimated to be present in about 40% of poor readers and in 20% of the general population in varying degrees.

HOW CAN COLORIMETRY
HELP WITH VISUAL STRESS?

In our Colorimetry assessment, we will explore the use of coloured overlays to reduce distortion and fatigue. An overlay can enable longer periods of reading free of discomfort and provide confidence to children and adults who are struggling to read.

The colour that benefits each individual is totally unique, therefore our specialised optometrist will guide you through the process to find the optimum solution for you. Lenses called Precision Tinted Lenses can also be prescribed for spectacle frames using a machine called a Colorimeter.

If you would like to find out more about how Colorimetry could help you or your child, please do not hesitate to get in touch to learn more.
